Natural Building Materials
At the Natural Home, we believe that natural building materials are of paramount consideration when designing a building or home.
With their low embodied energy, toxin free and environmentally friendly properties/characteristics/qualities, specifying natural materials will help to create, clean healthy working and living spaces and will also comply with current and future building regulations. We offer advice and guidance on the specification, suitability and installation of a wide range of natural products.
Paints, Plasters and Finishes
Despite being the first part of a building that we come into direct contact with, very often little or no consideration is given to how finishing materials affect the quality of the indoor environment and our health.
Many modern buildings contain plastics, synthetic paints and materials, which release VOC's and toxins into the indoor air for many years after they are installed. These materials, and their impact on buildings, have been linked to asthma, allergies and other respiratory health issues.
We believe that natural paints, plasters and finishes are an essential part of making any building a healthy place in which to live or work. The use of plastics and other petrochemicals can be eliminated, as natural materials are often more durable than their synthetic equivalents.
Aiding moisture and humidity regulation, and in doing so preventing mould growth and mite infestation, ensuring breathability and compatibility with the building structure are all key considerations and we can advise on any issues related to these important aspects of building design.
